Now, if you have read any of my previous HIMYM posts, you will know that I am not really a fan of Robin Scherbatsky. I can not put my finger on it, but just something about her character usually rubs me the wrong way. I say "usually" because there are moments here and there when I find myself rooting for Robin. As much as I hate to admit it, I was as happy as any other superfan out there when Robin turned out to be the bride in the season finale. So I thought it was fitting to make a list of all my favorite Robin and Barney moments on the show.

The first time we really saw Robin and Barney interact away from the group was in the episode, Zip, Zip, Zip.

I love the fact that every once in a while Future Ted realizes he is essentially telling his crazy stories to his children. I mean, who wants to hear stories about every person that your father and his friends slept with in their younger days? ICK. But at least when Ted is telling stories about the gang getting "higher than a kite" he changes it to "eating a sandwich". I am going to admit, there are times when I am watching an episode and he talks about himself eating a sandwich (and they actually show him eating a real sandwich), that it takes me a moment to catch on. I am not always quick on the uptake.

For a comedy show, a sitcom if you will, How I Met Your Mother has had it's fair share of tearjerker moments. The best thing about having a good cry while watching HIMYM is that the tearjerker moments are not always predictable, which make them even more enjoyable. Here are the HIMYM moments that have brought me to tears, not just one tear, but a a pretty good sob.

One of the best tearjerker moments of all time on HIMYM was when Marshall's dad died. As I was watching the episode, I found it a little odd that Marshall had such an amazingly close relationship with his father. But man the pay off for that relationship was HUGE.

So the saga continues. In round one we saw an even break Rachel beat out Robin and Barney beat out Chandler. So Friends 1- HIMYM 1, let's see where part two of this series takes us.

Next up is Ross vs Ted. Ross Gellar was an all around nice guy, kind of a shlub but still a nice guy. Ross found his way into all of our hearts during the infamous "Prom Video" episode where he was going to take a stood up Rachel to her senior prom. His "be cool" pep talk to himself on the stairs was one of the cutest things I had ever seen. Of course, Ross' heart was broken when her prom date did show up late at the last minute.

Since I have been watching a lot of Nick at Nite lately, I have been re-watching many of my favorite Friends episodes from yesteryear. Friends was such an all around great show, even when some of the storylines lagged, there was something endearing about each episode. Sometimes it was just a great one liner from Chandlier or a new Phoebe-ism, but nonetheless, every episode was great for one reason or another.

I feel very much the same way about How I Met Your Mother. Since the beginning of it's airing, it has been compared to Friends, even has been called a Friends knockoff. Is there anything wrong with that? My DVD library is certainly big enough to fit BOTH series in it, why is that a problem?

So then I thought, why not take this one step further and have an old fashioned HIMYM VS Friends smackdown.

As I am realizing we are coming to the end of yet another season, I am starting to think about  Barney's wedding. Now, from what I recall, and my memory is not always the greatest (blame it on the four kids who stole my brain cells), Barney's wedding will be shown in the season finale. I believe that this is still a glimpse into the future, if you will, but still it will be shown in the finale.

So now the question is, do we want Barney to marry Quinn? And more importantly, do we really want Barney to get married, ever??

I had to sit and think about this because on paper, Barney and Quinn are a great fit.

This week we were reminded of one of the great things about How I Met Your Mother, they know how to have beloved recurring characters make an appearance when you least expect it. Who would have expected Ranjit to be the star of Lily's sex dream? Certainly not this girl. It started the old brain a churning of some of the other recurring characters that visit the HIMYM universe from time to time.

First and foremost there is Ranjit, the limo driver who made his first appearance during season one. That first New Year's episode if one of my all time favorites. It was in the early days of the show, when I still wanted Ted and Robin to get together.

HIMYM seems to have babies on the brain this season. Earlier this fall, Ted and Barney were considering adopting and being fathers together. Lily is huge and will be delivering before this season wraps up in a few weeks. Now last night we got a glimpse three years into the future where Ted is holding his baby girl. It's about time, those teenagers in the flashforwards have to be born soon in order for any of the HIMYM timelines to make sense.

I am wondering how the arrival of Marshall and Lily's baby is going to affect the series next year. The gang spends so much time hanging at McLaren's and drinking, not something that new parents get to spend a lot of time doing.

Over the course of the series, there have been many housing/living arrangement changes. In a show like this one, the apartments almost become the 6th character of the series. There have been much house/apartment and roommate swapping going on lately and it reminded me of how important the setting really is to the series.

First, we have the main apartment. This is the apartment over McLaren's that has been home to Marshall, Lily, Ted and Robin over the years. So many important things have happened there. For example, in the pilot Marshall and Lily get engaged in the apartment. Many an Intervention has been staged at the apartment.

Robin Scherbatsky, I am not going to lie, she is my least favorite character of the group. I don't know exactly what it is about Robin I don't like, maybe the writers try to make her unlikeable so that we quit mourning the fact that she is not the mother. But Robin in general has been downright depressing this season.

First she falls for her therapist, how can that be healthy? Then she sleeps with Barney, thinks she preggers and finds out she can't ever have kids. This leads to depressing Robin with sad hair and clothes. She hasn't looked cute in a while. Barney and Ted have both declared their love for her this season and still she remains depressed.
