For a comedy show, a sitcom if you will, How I Met Your Mother has had it's fair share of tearjerker moments. The best thing about having a good cry while watching HIMYM is that the tearjerker moments are not always predictable, which make them even more enjoyable. Here are the HIMYM moments that have brought me to tears, not just one tear, but a a pretty good sob.

One of the best tearjerker moments of all time on HIMYM was when Marshall's dad died. As I was watching the episode, I found it a little odd that Marshall had such an amazingly close relationship with his father. But man the pay off for that relationship was HUGE. When Lily pulls up in the taxi, and has to tell Marshall about his father, I get goosebumps now just thinking about it. I have seen that episode numerous times and still, complete waterworks every single time. I've said it before and I will say it again, Jason Segel was robbed of the Emmy award that season.

Another tearjerker moment came in the episode that followed the previously mentioned one. "Last Words" had the best mix of comedy and sadness. It was a great send off for Marshall's sweet father. When Marshall is in the church courtyard yelling at God about his Dad's last words to him being a butt dial. Then at the last minute when his father ends up realizing it and tells Marshall he loves him?? Uncontrollable sobs, and again Jason Segel was ROBBED of that Emmy award.

This past season had two new tearjerker moments that will have me crying for years to come in syndication land. First there was when Robin found out she could not have children and that the children on the park bench were in her imagination. I am not even a fan of Robin and that had me in tears. I guess I figured that at some point she would change her view on wanting to have children. I know that there are plenty of people out there who never do have children, but I personally do not know any, so it's hard for me to fathom. It wil be very interesting now (SPOILER ALERT) that she ends being Barney's bride in the big reveal this season. Does this mean Barney never has children either? Or does this wedding never really happen? Time will tell I guess.

Lastly, one of the best happy tearjerker moments ever on HIMYM was the birth and reveal of baby Marvin's name. Such a sweet moment with the whole gang there and the new family looking so blissfully happy. I don't think HIMYM will ever be able to top that moment in my book.
